SOLUTION FOR CATHODIC PROTECTION SYSTEMS

Cathodic protection systems use a backfill around the anode to reduce electrical resistance and prevent the anode from degradation. Traditional backfill materials have a limited usable lifespan as they progressively degrade. At conGraph Solutions we have developed conGraph CP-20 which:

  • Lasts four times longer than traditional backfill materials.
  • Does not require venting pipe.
  • Reduces corrosion and increases anode life.
  • Is environmentally friendly.
APPLICATION FOR A TYPICAL VERTICAL ANODE INSTALLATION
  1. Drill a hole in the ground to the required depth.
  2. Center the anodes in the hole and insert into position.
  3. Mix conGraph CP-20 with water until it forms a paste. Use from 7.5 to 8 liters of water (2 US gallons) per 20 Kg. bag. Do not use salt water.
  4. Pour or pump the mixture into the hole until the anodes are completely embedded and ensure that there are no air gaps.
  5. When the product is hardened, fill the top of the hole with conGraph CP-20 powder or native soil.

ADVANTAGES

conGraph CP-20 is an ideal backfill material for use in cathodic protection systems given its low consumption rate of 0.4 Kg. per year which increases the useful life of the installation and with no maintenance required. conGraph CP-20 surrounds the anode increasing its surface so that any gases produced spread across the said surface before easily dissipating in the surrounding soil, thereby obviating the need for venting.
